The Brief
Based on extensive user research focused on player preferences, we identified strategy enthusiasts and competitive gamers as our primary target audience. Our secondary audience includes Esports professionals and casual gamers with an interest in RTS. This decision was informed by case studies on the "Killer, Achiever, Socializer, and Explorer" player types, which showed that RTS gamers enjoy challenging gameplay and compelling narrative stories. These insights supported our decision to introduce the world of IMMORTAL: Gates of Pyre and the diverse characters within its universe.

SunSpear Games™, Inc. is a development studio with a deep background in creating several of the most popular mods for Skyrim and Starcraft and developing the internationally known keyboard layout for professional players called The Core.

SunSpear Games is pursuing its goal to reignite RTS fans – with IMMORTAL: Gates of Pyre™- a real-time strategy game in which players assume the role of Immortal, leading armies as godlike generals to dominate the battlefield and conquer their rivals.

Across many worlds, these "Immortals" lead their proud and mighty civilizations to victory with unique structures, troops, and powerful abilities, helping them achieve ultimate victory.

We began by conducting comprehensive market analysis within the RTS gaming landscape, examining successful titles and their digital presence strategies. This phase involved deep-diving into player behavior patterns, studying how strategy enthusiasts and competitive gamers interact with game websites, and analyzing the competitive positioning of similar titles in the market.

Content Prep

We developed a comprehensive content strategy that would effectively communicate the game's core mechanics, faction diversity, and competitive features to different player segments. We also structured content to support the game's evolving nature, creating flexible frameworks for patch notes, balance updates, and new content releases.

Phase 3

Visual Build

We implemented a sophisticated design system using the established brand palette that reflects the game's dark fantasy aesthetic while maintaining optimal performance for gaming audiences. The development prioritized fast load times, responsive design across gaming devices, and seamless integration with Steam's authentication systems.

Phase 4

Launch Support

Prior to launch, we conducted extensive load testing and performance optimization to ensure the website could handle traffic spikes typical of gaming releases and tournament events. This included optimizing video content delivery for gameplay trailers, and establishing monitoring systems for both traditional web metrics and gaming-specific KPIs like conversion from visitor to Steam wishlist.
